Irina Hansen’s Plan to Rebuild Nevada’s Education System
Nevada’s education system has been ranked among the worst in the nation for far too long. Politicians like Joe Lombardo have made promises for years, yet our schools remain underfunded, unsafe, and broken.
Lombardo had three full years in office to push meaningful school choice legislation and he didn’t. Not a word. Not a bill. Not a fight. Now, as he seeks re-election, he wants to parade it around like it was his idea all along.
Let’s be clear: this movement was built by parents, fought for by real people, and driven by those of us who aren’t afraid to take a stand no matter the political cost.
Enough talk. It’s time for real action.
As your next Governor, I am committed to delivering real, measurable change, not empty campaign slogans.
1. School Choice: Empowering Parents and Students
I believe education dollars should follow the student, not the system.
Every family deserves the freedom to choose the best educational path for their child, whether it’s:
- Public school
- Charter school
- Private school
- Homeschooling
- Online academies
- Specialized career programs
Parents, not politicians, should decide what is best for their children.
I will fight to expand school choice options, education savings accounts, and opportunity scholarships so every child in Nevada can access the education they deserve, regardless of their zip code.
2. Vocational and Career Training: Preparing Students for the Real World
Not every student’s path leads to a four-year university and that's okay.
I will expand access to:
- Skilled trades training
- Vocational certification programs
- Workforce development partnerships
- Apprenticeship pipelines into high-demand industries
Nevada’s students deserve real-world skills that lead directly to meaningful, high-paying careers.
Education must be about opportunities, not one-size-fits-all pathways.
3. Follow the Money: Accountability for $Billions Lost
The political establishment has wasted billions of dollars that were promised to improve Nevada’s schools.
- Over $12 billion was allocated to education in the 82nd Legislative Session alone.
- Billions more were promised through marijuana tax revenue, money that was supposed to directly fund our classrooms, teachers, and programs.
Where did it go?
I will launch full forensic audits to track down every dollar, expose waste and mismanagement, and make sure that the money meant for our students actually reaches our students, not the pockets of bureaucrats and special interests.
4. Parent Rights and Academic Transparency
As Governor, I will fight to ensure:
- Parents have the right to know what is being taught in classrooms.
- Curriculum transparency becomes law.
- Age-inappropriate material is removed from our schools.
- Political indoctrination will have no place in Nevada classrooms.
- Parental authority over medical, behavioral, and educational decisions is fully protected.
Our children belong to their families — not the government.
5. School Safety: Protecting Students and Teachers
Nevada schools must be safe, secure environments where students can learn and teachers can teach without fear.
I will:
- Repeal “restorative justice” policies that have made schools less safe
- Increase school resource officer (SRO) presence
- Implement stronger anti-bullying and threat prevention programs
- Provide resources for physical security upgrades
- Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for violence against students and teachers
Safety is not negotiable. Every child deserves a safe place to learn.
